Social Media in the Healthcare Workplace

In this session, Peter Enko and Julianne Story discuss the risks of employee social media use on the Healthcare workplace. Topics discussed include employment and healthcare laws, and principles that provide the guardrails for legal compliance and risk. Specifically covered: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), laws related to Professional Boundaries, and the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.  Included are real-world scenarios to illustrate the legal principles. These will assist attendees in spotting issues and minimizing risk, which necessarily includes an understanding of the competing interests of employers, employees and patients.
